The collaboration work began with a constraint: it should not require GistBoard to become a hosted meeting service.
The Live Board foundation established an Apple SharePlay and GroupActivities boundary for presenter-led sessions. Presenter state refers to stable deck, tile, layer, path, and recording identities. Participant follow state is transient and read-only. Encoded events are validated for schema, sender role, sequence, and local context before they can be accepted by the transport boundary.
Participant contribution then arrived without granting broad access to the host's document. A host grants permission for an explicit scope. A participant draws into a separate contribution layer under dedicated package storage. The host can keep, hide, show, discard, or explicitly merge that work into a normal layer. Merge is never automatic.
This was an implementation foundation, not evidence of a finished collaborative product. Real FaceTime sessions, multi-device state flow, participant ergonomics, and host review on physical hardware remain pending.
