Cato Companion grew from a workflow shell into a local preparation application over a short sequence of repository milestones. It gained file-based workspaces, PDF, text, and image import, PDFKit and Vision processing, deterministic Preparation Briefs, and single-file .cato export through a native save panel.
The Mac product stayed intentionally narrower than the iPhone app. Its job was to prepare heavier source sets and create a portable Capsule, not to become a second chat interface or a full future Cato for Mac.
Automated tests showed that a Mac-created package could be imported through the iPhone services, searched, cited, remapped safely when identifiers conflicted, and rejected after tampering.
By 28 June, the repository also contained draft Mac App Store screenshots and unsigned Release build evidence. Distribution signing, final App Store structure, final screenshot treatment, and physical Mac-to-iPhone transfer were still unresolved. The milestone was implementation and automated compatibility, not public availability.
