Local-first software still needs visible lifecycle rules. In early June, Drop connected readable image shares to managed local originals and thumbnails, then added the controls needed to understand, move, export, and remove stored material.
Image binaries remain outside SwiftData while reference metadata links them to a Drop. Archiving preserves those files, permanent deletion coordinates record and file cleanup, and failed or no-text recognition retains neither a Drop nor media.
The same period added archive restore, a read-only storage summary, semantic index maintenance, text and JSON export, delete-all, and onboarding reset.
The scopes stay distinct. Clearing the semantic index does not remove Drops, delete-all does not reset onboarding preferences, and showing onboarding again does not remove the person's content.
