StickSpace began as an iPadOS app skeleton and quickly established its core object: a sticky Note that could be created from a visible pile, moved across a Board, and written on directly. The early history records the app shell, main Board, Note model, tap and drag creation, movement, and PencilKit canvas on the same date.
The decisive interaction choice arrived immediately after handwriting itself. Apple Pencil writes inside a Note; finger input moves Notes and navigates the Board. That division is still visible in the current onboarding and release documentation. It makes ink the content while keeping spatial manipulation available without switching to a separate editing mode.
This early sequence matters because later Areas, Groups, Viewpoints, Portals, and Search all depend on the Note remaining a durable handwritten spatial object.
