Expandive app privacy

Updated 20 October 2026 · Publisher: Burrito’s Labs LLC

This notice describes Expandive 1.0 for iPad, including its test builds.

Local storage and private iCloud sync

Expandive stores editable handwriting, imported pictures, and completed explanations in your board documents. It does not send this content to a Burrito’s Labs server. Drawing, replay, and movie or audio export are processed on the iPad.

Boards are saved inside Expandive’s local library. With Sync with iCloud enabled, the app automatically transfers boards, folder names, pictures, and completed recordings to your private iCloud database so they are available on your other iPads using the same Apple Account. Apple provides this storage under its terms and privacy policy, and your own iCloud storage allowance is used. Burrito’s Labs does not receive access to this private board data. You can disable sync in Expandive’s Settings. Your device or iCloud backup settings may also include local app data.

Microphone and pictures

Expandive requests microphone permission when you choose Record. While recording, audio and periodic replay checkpoints are kept in the app’s private local storage so an interruption can be recovered. When recording stops, audio is compressed and saved with the explanation. Recovery files are removed after the completed explanation is safely saved to the library. The app does not record ambient audio in the background. You can revoke permission in iPad Settings.

The system photo picker lets you select individual pictures to import. Expandive does not request access to your entire photo library. Imported copies become part of the board, including when you later copy or share that board.

No app account or app analytics

The app has no Expandive login, advertising SDK, analytics SDK, or developer-operated usage-reporting service. It does not sell board contents or use them to train models. There is no automatic upload of your writing or recordings to Burrito’s Labs.

Apple may handle diagnostics or store-related information according to your Apple settings and Apple’s policies; those system services are separate from the app’s own operation.

Sharing and deletion

Exported movies and audio are shared through destinations you select in the system share sheet. Recipients and destination services receive the files you choose to share. An editable board contains its imported media and saved explanations.

Manage boards in Expandive. Deleted boards remain in Recently Deleted until restored or permanently deleted. With sync enabled, deletions and restorations propagate to your other iPads. Permanent deletion removes board content from the library and private cloud record; a minimal deletion marker remains to keep offline devices consistent. Apple may retain backups according to its policies. Deleting the app does not delete private iCloud boards or exported copies; delete boards in the library while sync is enabled to remove them across devices. Manage exported files separately in Files. Undo history and material referenced by saved explanations can retain earlier content inside an existing board.

If you contact support

The optional Send feedback form sends the category, message, optional reply address, and any app/iPadOS version details you choose to include to Burrito’s Labs through our Cloudflare contact service. It does not attach boards, recordings, or device identifiers. Unsent drafts are stored locally on the iPad; successfully sent message text and reply addresses are cleared from that draft. Cloudflare processes network/browser information, including your IP address, for delivery and spam protection. The verification page does not load our website analytics. Messages are delivered to our support inbox; a reply is possible only if you provide an address. If you email or submit a website message to Burrito’s Labs, we receive the address, message, and attachments you choose to send so we can respond. Do not include sensitive documents or private recordings unless they are necessary and you intend to share them. To ask about a support message or its deletion, contact hello@burritoslabs.com.

This website is separate

The Burrito’s Labs website has optional analytics and a contact service, governed by the website privacy notice. Visiting this page does not give the website access to your Expandive boards.
